Shaunak Bakshi, M.D.

Dr. Shaunak Bakshi was raised on Long Island, New York, and graduated magna cum laude with distinction from Yale College. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, and moved to Los Angeles, California to complete his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Southern California / Los Angeles General Medical Center. There, Dr. Bakshi ran a clinic caring for an underserved patient population with complex eye conditions at one of the nation’s largest public hospitals and busiest level 1 trauma centers. He earned recognition for his ability to connect with patients of many backgrounds, and was also honored with the Senior Resident Teaching Award.

Following residency, Dr. Bakshi returned to Boston to complete a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Mass Eye and Ear / Harvard. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Bakshi has a strong interest in medical technology and is committed to bringing the latest innovations to his patients. He has published on a wide range of topics, including presbyopia-correcting technology, the artificial cornea (keratoprosthesis), and the use of artificial intelligence and virtual reality in healthcare. He previously served as a research fellow in the Disruptive Technology Laboratory at Mass Eye and Ear / Harvard and has experience in both clinical research and translational bench research in the neurosciences.
