Raindrop Corneal Inlay
The Raindrop® Solution
The Raindrop® is a save and quick outpatient procedure designed to improve near vision. The tiny inlay is about the size of a pinhead and is placed just beneath the surface of the eye. Watch the animation below to learn more about the Raindrop® procedure.
How does it work?
The inlay gently changes the shape of the cornea, which is the clear front portion of the eye. By making this gradual change in shape, it allows for easier reading and seeing of things close to the eye.
Who is Raindrop® For?
The Raindrop® is designed for people who need reading glasses to handle daily tasks such as:
- Reading or Using a Mobile Phone
- Reading Menus
- Reading Fine Print
- Close Up Work that Requires Looking at Fine Detail
How Long Does the Raindrop® Last?
The Raindrop® is intended to be a long-term solution for up close vision needs. However, if for any reason the inlay needs to be removed it can be done easily.
The Raindrop® has undergone extensive trials and usage to show that it is a safe and predictable procedure. The whole procedure was confirmed by the US FDA as being safe, also the Raindrop® is bioengineered to facilitate the transport of nutrients and fluids to the eye.
The difference Raindrop® Can Make
Most patients return to their normal vision after the Raindrop® procedure and gain 5 lines of near vision on an eye chart without the need for reading glasses within one week after the procedure. As time passes, most patients have continued improvement in their vision. Patients need to use eye drops for several months to allow for proper healing and comfort.
